I don't know if you've yet seen the news, but on Friday 2016 November 4, Photosynth
announced that as of 2017 February 6 they will take their website offline permanently
They are providing
for exported Tech Preview synths and stitched panoramas.
However, for original synths, neither an export option or offline viewer is being made available.
Regarding archiving original synth viewers, it should be relatively simple to collect the Direct3D viewer files from the local install and it is also relatively simple to harvest multiple versions of the Silverlight viewer via archive.org. Hopefully with some
hacking we could figure out how to get them to read a local backup of original synth files.
What we currently lack is a simple straightforward way of doing a complete export of original synth data as it is stored on the Photosynth server (or to the point how it is read by the original synth viewers).
